To purchase a Pharmacist Only medicine, a pharmacist is required to contact you via phone or email and ask you several questions to confirm what the problem is and ensure you get the right medicine for the right condition and that you know how to use it safely.

A Pharmacist is also legally required to record your name & address as a record of the sale of a Pharmacist-Only medicine.

Pharmacists, as part of their expert & ethical duties, are expected to promote safe, judicious, and efficacious use of medicines and avoid the supply of unnecessary and/or excessive quantities of medicines, or any product which may cause harm. In the event that the Pharmacist assesses and decides that the use of a Pharmacist Only medicine is not appropriate, all rights are reserved to decline the supply and fulfilment of the Pharmacist Only Medicine.

Description

Sumagran Active is used for the acute relief of migraine attacks, with or without what is known as an 'aura'. Auras may include visual disturbances such as brilliant flickering lights or blurring of vision; or sensory disturbances such as numbness or weakness of the limbs which can be a forewarning of an attack. Sumagran Active is only suitable for patients who have a stable, well-established pattern of symptoms. It should not be used to prevent migraine attacks from occurring.
Migraine attacks are thought to be caused by the swelling of blood vessels in the brain. Sumatriptan helps to relieve the symptoms of a migraine attack by reducing the size of the blood vessels back to normal. Sumagran Active tablets help to relieve migraine headache and the associated symptoms of nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. Sumagran Active does not relieve the symptoms of other headaches that are not migraine headaches.

Active Ingredients: Each film coated tablet contains Sumatriptan (as succinate) 50mg. 

Dosage:

Adults aged 18 to 65 years -

Take one tablet at once at the first sign of a migraine attack.

If your symptoms improve but return later, you may take one more tablet. Wait at least two hours after the first tablet was taken.
Do not take more than two tablets for the same migraine attack.
If Sumagran Active is not effective at relieving your migraine symptoms, do not take another tablet for this attack.
Swallow each tablet whole with a glass of water.

Sumagran Active can be taken in conjunction with Antinaus.

Warnings:

• Always read the label. Use only as directed.
• Sumagran Active is only suitable for patients between 18 and 65 years of age.
• Use only if you are certain that you have a migraine headache.
• Do not take Sumagran Active if you have any of the following: heart or liver problems; vascular problems; uncontrolled high blood pressure; an allergy to Sumatriptan, sulfur (e.g. sulfonamides), or any ingredients listed in the enclosed leaflet.
• Do not take Sumagran Active if you are taking other medicines used for the treatment of migraine, or treatment of depression (MAOI).
• This product contains lactose. This product is gluten free.
• Store below 25 degrees C.
• Keep out of reach of children.
